Wi-Fi installation in Cork
Cork AV carries out Wi-Fi installation in Cork with mesh systems or wired access points, for homes, garden rooms and small offices. We test the signal room by room first, fit what your house needs and test again, so every room gets the speed you already pay for.
Wi-Fi installation options that suit the house
Most Wi-Fi problems are not the broadband. They are one router in the hall trying to reach through block walls and concrete floors. The fix depends on the building, so we measure before we recommend anything.
Mesh Wi-Fi
Two or three mesh units placed where they work best, so the signal is strong in every room. Quick to fit, with no new cables.
Wired access points
Ceiling or wall access points cabled back to the router. The most reliable Wi-Fi you can have, and what we fit in new builds.
Network points
Wired connections for the home office, games consoles, TVs and streaming boxes, for a connection that does not drop.
Garden rooms and outbuildings
Buried cable or a wireless link to the garden office, gym, garage or pool house, with Wi-Fi inside.
Guest and rental Wi-Fi
A separate guest network for holiday homes, short lets and shared houses, managed remotely so problems are fixed quickly.
Small business networks
Offices, shops, bars and clinics: reliable staff and guest Wi-Fi, network cabling and cabinets.

Why Wi-Fi struggles in so many Cork homes
A lot of Cork housing is built in solid block with concrete upper floors, and the older city streets are brick or stone. Both soak up wireless signal. Add a dormer bedroom, a kitchen extension at the back and a garden office, and one router cannot cover it. Coastal homes from Crosshaven to Kinsale often have long, single storey layouts that need a second access point at the far end.
Broadband across the county also varies, from full fibre in the city and the larger towns to fixed wireless and satellite in parts of West Cork. We work with whatever comes into the house and make sure it reaches the rooms you use.

How we do a Wi-Fi installation
- Signal survey. We measure signal and speed in every room before suggesting anything.
- Proper equipment. Business grade access points or quality mesh, not the cheapest box on the shelf.
- One network name. Your phone moves around the house without dropping or switching networks.
- Tested again. Every room is tested after the install and we show you the results.

Will a Wi-Fi installation make my broadband faster?
No, it will not change the speed coming into the house. What it does is get that full speed to the rooms you use, which is where most homes lose it.
Do I need to change broadband provider?
No. We work with Eir, Virgin Media, Vodafone, Sky, Pure Telecom and fixed wireless providers, and set up your existing service properly.
Mesh or wired access points: which is better?
Wired access points are more reliable and better for large houses, thick walls and anyone working from home. Mesh is quicker and cheaper and works well in most homes.
Can you get Wi-Fi to a garden office?
Yes. We run a buried cable where we can, or fit a point to point wireless link, and put an access point inside the garden room.
Do you connect our devices after the install?
Yes. We reconnect and test TVs, printers, doorbells and other devices on the new network before we leave.
