Home cinema installation in Cork

Cork AV provides home cinema installation in Cork at three levels: Dolby Atmos sound in your living room, a dedicated media room, or a full cinema room with projector and seating. Each one is designed around the room and installed by the team behind 1Install's cinema rooms.

Three ways to plan a home cinema installation

Living room surround

A Dolby Atmos soundbar and subwoofer, or in ceiling speakers around your existing TV, set up and tuned to the room.

Media room

A family room built for film and sport: large screen or projector, 5.1 or Atmos speakers, blackout and one remote for everything.

Dedicated cinema

A room designed for film: acoustic treatment, projector and screen, cinema seating, lighting scenes and a full Atmos system.

Cinema rooms in Cork houses

In Cork the cinema room is usually not a purpose built space. It is a converted garage in Douglas, an attic room in a Blackrock period house, a playroom in Ballincollig or the lower ground floor of a hillside home in Montenotte. Each brings its own challenge: low ceilings, a window that needs blacking out, or sound that carries up to the bedrooms.

We visit, measure the room and design the screen size, seating distance and speaker positions around it. Building or renovating is the best time to plan, because we can run the cables before the plastering and come back to install once the room is finished.

How a home cinema installation runs

  • Room visit. We look at size, shape, light and seating and talk about how you will use it.
  • Clear design. A layout with screen size, speaker positions and seating, and a written, itemised quote.
  • Clean install. Cables in the walls and ceiling, speakers flush where possible, equipment out of sight.
  • Calibrated. Picture and sound tuned to the room, with one simple remote for film, sport and gaming.

Our surround systems are built and tuned for Dolby Atmos, the object based sound format used by Netflix, Disney+ and Apple TV for most new films.

Questions we are often asked

How much does a home cinema installation cost in Cork?

It depends on the room and how far you want to go, from Atmos in the living room to a dedicated cinema. After a room visit you get a written, itemised quote.

Projector or TV: which should I choose?

A large TV is brighter and easier in rooms with daylight. A projector gives a bigger picture for less money in a room you can darken, and we help you decide on the visit.

Do I need a dedicated room for a home cinema?

No. Most of the cinema rooms we fit are ordinary living rooms, playrooms or attic conversions. A dedicated room is for when you want the full experience.

Will the sound disturb the rest of the house?

It can be kept down. We plan speaker positions and add acoustic treatment to reduce how much sound reaches bedrooms and neighbours.

Can I keep my existing equipment?

Often, yes. We tell you plainly what is worth keeping and what will hold the system back.
